Really? After that preview, the best case scenario for the Rangers is to win it in 7??
Ye of little faith. Rags in 5...

How about Hags' goal going in off Uncle Daddy's butt? I can imagine the thought process: "Fatso here can't back all the way up with all that junk in his trunk, maybe I should bank it off his rump". Love it!

What gets me is people look at numbers and say "got to get that guy". There is no consideration as to whether or not the player fits in with the system the team wants to use.

Rick Nash is not a good fit with what John Tortorella uses. Another thing that gets me with Nash is everyone keeps saying how Columbus never found a center who could play with Nash but at what point does Nash deserve the blame for not fitting in?

And while you say you have talked with Kreider, no offense but Kreider does fit with what the NYR are trying to do. Kreider already has proven chemistry with Stepan but more importantly; Kreider was picked not because he is fast but rather because he fits what Tortorella wants to do.

You may not think Kreider is untouchable but those who have the final say appear to think otherwise.

I felt exactly the same seeing McD go down - I literally could not celebrate the goal out of worry. It got me thinking: Other than Hank, there is no other player we would miss more than Ryan, perhaps with the exception of Girardi. I was cheering when he came out for the ensuing PK - as if we'd won a playoff round!!
We definitely shut down AO, but be careful with the plus/minus stat (the most useless stat in the game, I've heard it referred to before). On Saturday, Gaborik ended up a minus one, and obviously Philly did NOT do the job shutting him down... 1g, 3a and a BIG part of the win over the Flyers.
BTW... Not to toot my own horn, but I commented here some time ago on my confidence in this team not having a letdown stretch this season. I proudly stand by that comment, and I have never been more confident in ANY team's commitment and resilience. Let's Go Rangers!!!

The Habs don't scare me....it's that building...I seriously wonder if they spike the Rangers water there or something. They just play like GARBAGE year in and year out over there.

Yeah, yeah, house of horrors and all that. I hate it that you are always right about playing (losing) there... I'm still looking forward to the day they prove you wrong, as I'm sure you are!! However, I don't dread facing these guys in the playoffs. Whether it's that I (subconsciously) don't think that the Habs will get there, or I feel that the added intensity will benefit the Rangers to the point that we will get past them in a series. The thought just doesn't scare me for some reason...

While I understand what you are getting at with the cycle of winning streak followed by losing streak by the Rangers - they have been maddeningly consistent with this previously - I believe that this team is better than that. Perhaps what we have seen in the last couple of games is the Rangers not being able to come into games against lesser opponents, without any real rivalry there, with the same intensity as we saw in the prior three games. While this trait is not ideal, there is a continuing process of this team coming together and improving, and I think that this too will improve. They have certainly turned the corner as far as getting shots on goal from anywhere and everywhere since their recent (brief) losing streak, which I am very pleased about. This is not a team that is currently playing to its potential, but I would prefer to have them where they are and continuing to improve than to have them playing as well as they could at this point of the season. Case in point: last year's Flyers team. They were playing so well in the first half of the season that they relaxed, and could never get the momentum and hunger to win back. I don't want to put the touch of death on this team, but I am extremely pleased with how this season has been progressing, and even during the down points, I felt confident that everything was moving the right direction in the bigger picture. I am sticking by my off-season confidence that we will be competing for the division title and making some real noise in the playoffs this year. The solid young core has one year more experience, familiarity with Fonz's system and belief in one another. The addition of Richards, and the introduction of Hagelin and Mitchell has given us a balanced team. The improved play of Stepan, and the stepping up we've seen by all of the defencemen in the absence of Staal has made our young blueliners arguably the best in the game. And having a healthy Biron to be a reliable backup to Hank, who is actually being given a chance to shoulder the load of games must not be underestimated. But, timing is everything, and if we peak too soon it could be very detrimental to the team's success.
