We won….

In Montreal…

I think the last time this happened I was just graduating from College…ugh, boy that feels like AGES ago.

But, let’s forget all that. Sure, the Rangers didn’t have an auto-loss in a game you’d pretty much expect them to get destroyed. It’s not about the teams, it’s about the curse. But, they somehow won. Great. But, the bigger story is going to go over your head if you fixate on that.

What’s the bigger story?

Cam Talbot?

Cam had a solid game, but let’s be honest here, he didn’t have to be nearly as good as Carey Price did, who had a remarkable game in net. Talbot was fantastic fo-sho, and WAY better than Marty Biron has been for quite some time. But again, that isn’t the bigger story.

As you can guess by the title of this post, the bigger story tonight was Chris Kreider.

Sure, Kreider has been playing like a borderline star since his recall, but tonight he took that shit to another level. Tonight was Chris Kreiders coming out party. Tonight was the night that all subsequent nights need to be judged against. Tonight was the night where Chris Kreider said, you guys, get on my back, I’m winning us this game.

No, Kreider didn’t get on the scoresheet, and if youre just stat surfing you probably wouldn’t appreciate the game this kid had tonight, but if you watched the game, you basically saw a kid impose his physical will on the other team, and the other team flat out back down for fear of him single handedly beating them.

Sure, his linemates were terrific. Stepan and MZA both had some great minutes, but it was Kreider tonight who stood out as a man among boys.

Oh, and Rick Nash is pretty close to being back.

I can has 2 superstar wingers please?
