Well, ya gotta hand it to the Rangers…they know how to continue over their shitty preseason play into the regular season.
Shitty goaltending? Check
Shitty defense? Check
Shitty offense? Check
Only goals scored by Marc Staal? Check
Retarded game plan of dump and chase when playing against the best puck handling goalie in the league? Check
Remind me, why did we fire John Tortorella? Oh, right, our style of hockey was “unwatchable” and the players were tired of his antics and needed a refresher. Well, the team sure doesn’t look to be buying what AV is selling thus far. They look slower, lazier, and much easier to play against than what Torts had here.
Again though, I’ll reiterate what I said before, when you transition from 1 style to its complete polar opposite, it isn’t going to happen overnight, it will take time…the question is, how long?
I’m just curious as to why Henrik Lundqvist has been so mediocre thus far in the preseason and in the opener. Hes certainly used to being peppered with high quality shots and seeing lots of deflections, except thus far, everything has been going in.
I actually liked the top 2 lines and what they did out there for the most part, but we got nothing from our bottom 2 lines. Fasth, Miller, Moore, Boyle, and Pyatt were all terrible, Dorsett was the lone….un-terrible player of them, and even he was not all that great. Derek Stepan had a rough game…he made some good plays, but he was responsible for a goal, and for several quality chances against. You wanted the money kid, you better earn it.
Pouliot is really a 3rd line player if you ask me…when Cally comes back, I think he moves down.
That’s all for now, I’m feeling exhausted.
