It was a dumb play by Kaleta, who is 1 hell of a dirty player out there, but, let’s be real here, despite Micheletti claiming that the play was something close to what Chris Simon did to Ryan Hollweg, it wasn’t much of a shove. Richards went flying with basically a light little tap, either he was trying to embellish, or, more likely, he was just off balance and went flying. You can scream all you want about Kaleta, but the truth of the matter is, that’s probably not a 5 minute penalty in most non Ranger fan books. Regardless though, the Rangers ended up scoring 2 power play goals (despite their power play looking godawful for the final 4ish minutes of their 5 minute major, and they gave up a shortie, leading to a shootout and eventual win by the Rangers.
What did I like about this game? I thought Gaborik played pretty well. He didn’t score, I’m not even sure if he had a shot, but he looked engaged, he looked like he was coming out of his stupor, which is a good thing. Rick Nash, again, was monsterlike, scoring a goal, almost putting one past Henrik Lundqvist with a beautiful faceplant in the crease (was that hilarious or what?), scoring a shootout goal, the go ahead goal, and all in all just being a damn monster out there. Seriously, all you guys who was crying about his salary and what it cost to get him….whatcha think now?
What did I not like about this game? Rangers were pretty flat for most of the first 2 periods. A team that was built on consistency last year has been anything but. They are the 1-2 period team they were 2 years ago, and it’s frustrating as hell to watch.
Anyways, just a heads up. There will be NO post game wrap the next game. I’ll watch it, but I have a crazy busy day, and then on Wednesday I have to be up and out by 5am for a project, so I just can’t spare the time. Im sure you’ll live without me
