Say Hello To The Basement!

Posted by inferno272 on July 19th, 2010

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed Ilya Kovalchuk. Say hello to the basement for the forseeable future Ranger fans. The Flyers, Devils, Penguins are significantly better than us, even more so than last year. And the Islanders with all their youth and high draft picks will be better than us in a very short period of time. We don’t have the prospects to compete with any of these teams. My guess, the next 5 years the Rangers will finish in dead last in the Atlantic…of at the very best, 4th.

More analysis tomorrow.

Free Agent Frenzy

Rangers so far have signed Biron, and Christensen. Both deals are excellent. I’m very happy so far. Keep going Sather…don’t do anything stupid. Get me Kovalchuk god damn it.

-Rumor has it Rangers signed Boogard at 4 years, 1.65 per. An absolutely HORRIFIC contract. This contract is almost as bad, proportionately, to the Drury, Redden, and Gomez deals.

I feel like throwing up.

-Rangers brought back Prospal, 1 year deal @ 1 mil + another mil in bonuses. I was against bringing him back, but I assumed he would get a whole lot more elsewhere. I like this deal.

Now, GO GET ME KOVALCHUK.

-Ask yourself this. With Philly, Ottawa, Pittsburgh, Washington, Boston, Buffalo and New Jersey all either improving, or already vastly better than the Rangers how are the Rangers going to make the playoffs? Remember that the Thrashers and the Lightning all took big steps forward, and remember that the Canadiens made it to the Eastern Conference Finals. Honestly, if the Rangers don’t sign Kovalchuk, I think they finish in the bottom 3 or 4 in the East.
