Snoozefest, Borrrrrrrrrrrring, ZZZZZZZ, etc are all other good titles for tonights game. Really what we saw tonight was what all of us bitched about to New Jersey Devils fans while they won their championships. That kind of hockey is BORING. Sure, it gets the job done when your goalie is great, but it’s not enjoyable to watch. After all, what is hockey, it is a form of entertainment. Honestly, how many of you were entertained by tonights game? I mean, sure, we won the game, and didn’t give up many scoring chances, and scored just enough to win. But did you enjoy yourself? Those of you who were at the game, did you leave the Garden thinking to yourself, man, what a fun game!

I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I found myself borderline napping during that 2nd period. We played the neutral zone, 1-4 defense to near perfection tonight. No high quality scoring chances, no risky plays, everyone back in the zone, only perimeter shots allowed, yada yada yada. But there weren’t many rushes outside of the first 5-10 minutes. There wasn’t much sustained pressure by either team. It was just play in the neutral zone for 80% of your shift, get into the offensive zone, take a perimeter shot, and change lines. Rinse and repeat.

Look, I love watching a team win games. I love watching my team play well. And tonight we did everything you could want. So maybe I am just complaining for complainings sake, but I can’t be the only person out there who feels a little dirty about being happy with a win that looked identical to the New Jersey Devils style of hockey in every single facet. Particularly with how much shit I give that team for their boring style of play.

We won, but is it too much to ask for a little bit of an offensive attack? Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta have a shower, being happy with a NJ Devils style win just makes me feel disgusting.
