I will likely miss tomorrows game for personal reasons. However I will be recording it on High-def, and will report on what I see later tomorrow, probably around 10 pm.

I will likely miss tomorrows game for personal reasons. However I will be recording it on High-def, and will report on what I see later tomorrow, probably around 10 pm.
I just can’t talk about this game. I mean, what is there to say? We lost yet another crucial game, and continue our laughable and maddening inconsistent play that has plagued us for years.
So, whatever, I don’t want to talk about it, you’ve heard it all, so why bother.
Anyway, instead of just ending the post game thoughts like that, I figured I would reexamine an old article of mine. Please click here to read it in its entirety. It’s that old Scotty Gomez argument I’ve been having with a lot of people.
Rather than state any sort of long argument pro, or against the Gomez signing, I figure it’s probably just best to update this table, and leave it at that. Draw your own conclusions, remembering that Gomez was the only All-Star of all the players listed here.

Also, for fun, I decided to compile the stats of all forwards making more than 7 million dollars this year (except Crosby, Thornton and Ovechkin, but I used their cap hit for their new contracts) and performed the same study. Here are the results…

Keep in mind this does not take into account intangibles, defensive play, etc. This is pure offensive production. Also, there are other players who have cap hits of 7 or more mil next year (Lecavalier for example) however their cap hits are below 7 mil next season, so they are not being used for this study, nor are defensemen for obvious reasons. In terms of pure dollar value and pure offensive production, Jarome Iginla is the most valuable player, with Thomas Vanek being by far and away the least valuable.
