What more can possibly happen to this team? I mean, seriously, what more can happen? How about Colton Orr who looked to hurt himself on a shift early in the period, and since then I really didn’t see him out there at all. How about the Rangers hitting a post and the crossbar twice in this game? Or how about Scott Gomez being all alone for a tap in goal and shooting it right into the pads of Holmqvist. How about Jaromir Jagr losing control on a breakaway? How about Ryan Hollweg taking the puck to the net with a brilliant move, only to, again, shoot it right into the chest of Holmqvist. No, not enough? Ok, how about a sharp angle shot by Dawes that flops all around the crease but never finds its way into the net. Snakebitten seems like the understatement of the year.
By the way, anyone notice how the Lightning managed to score their goal in the period? Rangers were caught with 3 men deep and the separation between the forwards and defenseman allowed Lecavalier to get in behind the D.
After that though, the Rangers seemed to notice what I was saying, on a few occasions they had 3 men deep, and each time the player (Drury and Hossa that I noticed) realized it and backed off to get into the slot.
Right now, all you can say is, just keep giving it your best boys, eventually they will go in……I hope…
