Most of the regulars here will note that I really enjoy making music videos. I know MSG Network has used them on their blogs for Sam Rosen and Joe Micheletti. Anyways, the reason I bring this up is I have been playing around with some new effects, and I figured id share a short clip. This one is about a minute long, and really its nothing super special, but you might enjoy it, or you might feel like you lost a minute of your life. Either way, here it is:

There are so many things to talk about here. Yes, the Rangers evened-up the series. Yes, (i personally feel) the Rangers got the benefit of a much more home friendly reffing crew. Yes, the Rangers got the benefit of a good call on the no-goal, with some questionable camera angles.
Do I think it was in? Absolutely, theres not a doubt in my mind that it was a goal. However they HAD to call it a no goal because there was no conclusive proof it went in, you just couldnt see. Which leads me to my next point? 3 camera angles?! Are you kidding me? During regular season Ranger games you usually have 6, 7, sometimes 8 angles on a play. In this one they had the standard camera angle we watch the game with. A 3/4’s from behind and to the left of Henrik. And the overhead shot. Either VS is simply cheap, and didnt pay for the extra cameras, and camera people, or somehow the Rangers managed to hide the footage from those cameras. Of course there is also the possibility that Toronto had the other camera angles, and saw it didnt go in, but I highly doubt it based on the trajectory of the puck as we lose sight of it. Lets face it, right before we lose sight of it, the puck is a millimeter from going over the line, the next frame it should be in, but the next frame is hidden by Henriks pad.

anyone know how this works? when the game is on versus do they just use the crew that msg uses and just keep the feed for themselves? or is it their own crew?the reason i ask is i am ASTOUNDED that they only had 2 angles of that puck. against the Isles, we had like 54 different angles on the henrik save. whereas here, all they had were 2 angles.
anyone know how it works?

I used to work at ABC developing a Sports Management System to help with yearly budgeting.
The way it worked over there was the television network is responsible for scheduling and paying a crew and renting out the necessary camera equipment.
The cameras get really expensive, so you can most likely thank the limited camera angles of tonights no-goal replay on the tight budget of the Versus network. If this game was being broadcast by MSG, I bet there would be more camera angles available, and it would have been ruled a goal.
The lack of cameras has nothing to do with MSG, it has everything to do with Versus.
So there we have it, VS probably screwed the Sabres out of a win (they were FLYING at that point, I have no doubts they would have won this game) (possibly) because of budget considerations.
Just amazing. I dont know how there is so much damn Drama with video review in this series, but its about friggin time one of those went our way!
Everything more or less evened out in this one. We got the better reffing, we got the review, and we got the win to tie the series up. Everything starts a-new on Friday. See you then!

I think what happened there was the Rangers actually saw the light at the end of the tunnel. They collectively saw themselves beating the Sabres, and for a few minutes, they let up. Uh-Oh. When you have is penalty after penalty after penalty. Rangers are doing an excellent job killing them off, but even the best penalty killing team in the world is going to get scored on eventually. Rangers gotta be careful here. I think they can win this, obviously they are leading, but still, they need to be very, very, very careful with their energy and intensity levels.

Contrary to what I heard the announcers say, the Rangers AND Sabres both looked really flat. Neither team was particularly solid in their own zone, looking silly at times with their decision making. Not really much else to say, except I have about 10 minutes to help my brother change a flat.
