What does the phrase “overcoming the fix” mean? That’s probably what I would ask had I visited this site to read some post game thoughts. Well, it all points to the conspiracy theory rapidly gaining strength that the league, or Bettman, or someone up there is trying to make the Sabres the cup champs as a way to showcase the “new nhl” style being exciting, and a style that can win. This is summarized very well here.

The question I have to ask myself is, do I believe there is a fix? I mean, I saw the Sabres get some pretty 1-sided reffing, and some pretty 1-sided help from Toronto in their series against the Islanders. Still, I didnt think anything of it. I saw the Sabres get an inexplicable goal in game 1, eerily similar, yet worlds different than what happened today, after which I said:

It is my contention that the refs MADE THE RIGHT CALL. the refs called it no-goal. the video review crew blew it. not because they want buffalo to win, but because they are idiots.

Now, after seeing deja vu all over again, one really has to ask yourself. Is the league just that incompetent? Seriously though, the official explanation the Rangers got was this:

“The puck didn’t deflect off Rachunek’s skate and in. The pass from Hossa hit Rachunek in the skate … then … Rachunek propels the puck in with his skate,” NHL video director Damian Echevarrieta explained. “You can’t score a goal with your skate unless it hits you in the skate and goes in based on the momentum of the shot or pass. You can’t propel the puck in with your skate.”

All I can say to that is, show me where it says that in the rulebook. I have read, and re-read the parts that are relevant here, and the only rule governing a play off of the skate is as follows:

Did you see a pendulum motion? I sure didnt!

So either the rulebook is conveniently missing this information, or the head hanchos are making up rules as they see fit. This is a gross abuse of power in my personal opinion.

So, is there some sort of vast conspiracy to help the Sabres win the cup? Probably not, but the fact that I am no longer saying “definitely not” should be of concern. Because any other impartial NHL fan, probably is thinking the same thing.

Wow, that one JUUUSSTTT missed. I cant believe Henrik didnt have that one. Seriously though, the Rangers are forcing and forcing and forcing and the puck just wont sit still. Usually the crappy ice would favor us, the slower team, but right now its hurting us because weve had most of the chances.

The longer this goes, the more likely is it Buffalo wins. They spread their ice time around much better than we do.

Yeah, ok, theres no hanky panky going on here. Lets see. Rangers got 2 power plays in the first period. Since then? 0. Zip. Zilch. Nada. How about Buffalo? They got 5 power play chances since then. 5!!! 5-0!!!

They scored 1 legit goal, we scored 1 legit goal. except theirs counted, ours didnt.

NHL…I am disgusted right now.

Jagr said something like that before game 2. Something to the effect of, well, why dont we just give them the cup if they are so damn good. Well, after watching that second period, I am wondering if the NHL is doing just that.

I will talk more about this during the post game thread regardless of who wins, but right now, the NHL’s video review board are a disgrace. And I dont mean that in the meer commonplace use of the word, i literally mean, they are a disgrace to the game.

Right now, I am at a loss for words, trust me, that won’t be the case at the end of this game, i think the fury in my head is blocking my thought center or something like that.

I may not be at the game, but the fans there, and I are certainly together in spirit. We both agree, these refs SUCK! Sure, we may have got 1 more power play (yet to be completed) than them, but it should have been WAY more than that. There were at least 2 calls on Avery that went uncalled. One of those powerplays should have been a penalty shot. And Prucha took one hell of a slash when the announcers were commenting on how he was shaking his hand. Not to mention a Buffalo player closing his hand on the puck, and pulling it in under his body to stop the Rangers play. Just terrible, terrible reffing.

Rangers, in my opinion, dominated that period, but gave up a few too many quality chances against. Henriks been solid, but the Rangers have been better.

By the way, tell me you didn’t see 1 turnover by Malik with a pass up the middle like before, and another near turnover by Malik with a pass up the middle like before. You can’t be serious Marek, do you WANT the crowd to bum rush you at the end of the game?!
