Projections 3-4-07

Posted by inferno272 on March 3rd, 2007

How this works:

Basically what I do, is to take the points a team has managed till now, divide it by the games played, then multiply it by 82. That should accurately project what the team should finish like, unless there is an extreme streak one way or the other.

Current
Rank
Team Games Played Points Points
Per
Game
Projected
Final
Points
Projected
Rank
6 Atlanta 66 76 1.1515 94 7
7 NY Islanders 65 75 1.1538 95 6
8 Carolina 67 73 1.0896 89 8
9 Montreal 68 72 1.0588 87 11
10 Toronto 66 71 1.0758 88 9
11 NY Rangers 65 69 1.0615 87 10
12 Boston 64 67 1.0469 86 12

As you can see, it isn’t within the realm of impossibility for us to make it. Therefore using these numbers we can project what the Rangers would have to go over the remaining 17 games in order to secure the projected 90 points needed to secure the final playoff spot:

10-6-1
9-5-3
8-4-5
7-3-7
6-2-9
5-1-11
4-0-13

Copycats!-Blues@Rangers Post Game Thoughts…

Posted by inferno272 on March 3rd, 2007

Come on, admit it, you were just like me. The Rangers having played badly through two, trailing 2-0 after 2 looked eerily like every team thats come into MSG over the past month. They’ve played poorly, trailed by 2 or 3 after 2, and come back to win it in almost every case. Go figure that the same thing happened to the Rangers here. Im wondering if we should just spot teams coming into MSG with 2-0 leads. this way we wont be the ones choking and giving up these games.

One thing I was annoyed with though was the 3 choices for the stars of the game. My personal choices would have been:
3)Sanford who played an amazing game.
2)Sean Avery who had the GTG.
1)Petr Prucha who was relentless and drew the power play that led to the first goal with absolute pure hustle.

Ive got a lot more I want to say, but I gotta go run and do some work, got a huge day on Monday.

Projections Tonight.

Undeserving-Blues@Rangers Second Period Thoughts…

Im going to forget that the Rangers missed a few glorious chances to get this game close. Heres what I’ve noticed. The Blues are the first to the puck, they are the first to collapse properly into their own zone, they are the first to clear pucks and the first to retrieve the pucks. They dont stop skating, they dont stop hustling, they dont look around for the call, they just keep playing.

All the things the Rangers just arent doing. This is a disgrace.

Who Let The Dogs Out?-Blues@Rangers First Period Thoughts…

I cant believe for such a big game, with JD in the building, the Rangers came up with this kind of an effort. As a fan I can only shake my head in disgust, and as a fan who abhors booing his own team, I must admit if I were at the Garden, I probably would have joined in with the crowd. That was a disgrace. You almost get the feeling that the club would prefer loosing all the games from here on out with this kind of an effort. If we do though at least we’ll get a better pick.

Congrats to JD btw, hes done a marvelous job in St. Louis and hes just a class act all the way deserving of the ovation he received. We miss ya John.
