Had To Have It-Canadiens@Rangers Post Game Thoughts…

Posted by inferno272 on February 27th, 2007

In a game the Rangers absolutely without a doubt had to have…They won. Though I find myself almost dismissive of the win. Lets face the facts folks. The Canadiens are a pushover right now, their goaltending is awful, and they traded away an asset in Rivet. Not sure what exactly you can expect from them, but it aint much. Id be shocked if they made the playoffs. Still though a win is a win, and a win at home is twice as nice. Anyways Marcel Hossa played one of the best games of his short but hopefully promising career. You gotta be impressed with the way hes turned his game around.

With all that said, it was fun to experience this once again, its been a long time since Ive heard it…

Projections coming in an hour or 2.

The Number 23-Canadiens@Rangers Second Period Thoughts…

Posted by inferno272 on February 27th, 2007

Stay with me folks… In each of the past 2 (now 3) games the Rangers had 2-0 leads only to eventually trail 2-3. The Rangers had a 2-0 lead, and scored another to make it 3-0. Marcel Hossa now has 8 goals in his past 11 games…err, not sure how to make that 23, but im sure it could be done! Anyways, Hossa continues to look like his brother, paying the price to get goals, and showing off his size and puck control ability. I just wish he would power to the net more often rather than taking it out wide. The kids on fire, no doubts there. Hes gonna be a RFA this offseason and you can be damn sure his 600k salary will at least double. The kids been very good.

When and if the Rangers blow this lead, they should look back at this period and shudder. The Canadiens goalie looked pretty bad to me. Even though he made some saves, it looked more lucky than anything from him. Rangers should have peppered him with shots from anywhere and everywhere. I wasnt happy with their overpassing as usual when they could have had another 5-10 shots had they taken advantage of some open lanes. Still, I guess leading after a period isnt the worst thing in the world.

Anyone else think the Bruins who are tied w/ the Rangers right now did some foul play to prevent Mara from making the trip?

Post Deadline Thoughts…

Im not going to talk about the other teams moves, because its just not what i want to do at the moment. however the 2 moves we made were great, we got a ton for Dupuis, which I just cant believe. I saw NOTHING from him to believe hes worth even a 4th round pick and supposedly we get Bourret AND a 3rd rounder? The Thrashers are just dumb, what more can you say. Then you have the Ward for Mara deal, which to me is a push. I like Ward a lot, but he clearly wasnt fitting in here, so moving him was the right thing to do.

The next thing you talk about is why the Rangers didnt completely unload. Clearly they thought (judging by the comments made by Sam Weinman) that they still have a shot at the playoffs. With that said I am very thankful the Rangers werent buying. Thats good news to me.

Trade Deadline Updates

Posted by inferno272 on February 27th, 2007

Rangers trade Aaron Ward to the Bruins for a player to be named later, ill let you know when its named ;-)

According to Ward its for Paul Mara, I’ll let you know when that is affirmed by the team.

UPDATE: Rangers trade Pascal Dupuis who I was not real happy with to the Thrashers for a prospect.

According to Dellapina the prospect is Alex Bourret which I can not believe. Hes one of my favorite prospects in the league and someone I desperately wanted a few years back. Thrashers are imploding with their idiotic moves.
