Its Not The Refs-Thrashers@Rangers Second Period Thoughts…

Posted by inferno272 on January 20th, 2007

I was pretty surprised that over on the HF Boards the general consensus is that the Rangers are getting shafted by some shoddy reffing.? I honestly am not sure that is the case.? I think the reffing has been fairly even to be honest.? The penalty shot call, while a bit iffy, appeared to me to be the right call, as were the calls on Jagr, Shanahan, etc.? You can complain about reffing all you want, and generally im the first one to say when its bad.? But today it doesnt seem to be a factor, Rangers are doing it to themselves.

With that said I thought the play of both teams seriously regressed in the second, probably moreso by the Thrashers, as they looked flat footed on many plays.

God bless Henrik, w/o him, this season is already over.

Rangers played a pretty decent period, with that said…

I know a lot of people whine about Marek Malik, and I agree, hes been bad this year. But that first period might have been the most putrid defense by a player ive witnessed since some of Bozolinsh’s performances down the stretch last year. Malik was just AAAWWWFFFUUULLLL in that period.? I cant for the life of me figure out why the hell this guy keeps getting free passes by Tom Renney yet a guy like Pock, who hasnt been brilliant, but has been pretty damn good, keeps getting the shaft.? Its VERY disconcerting to watch that level of hypocrisy from the team I? love.

Jagr had a good period, I counted three times he came all the way back to the goal line to play D.? THATS what I want Jags, keep it up buddy!? The Cullen-Krog-Shanahan line looks to have almost no chemistry when playing together in the zone.? They seem to generate some good rushes individually, but as a unit, they look terrible.? If there is any truth to the Forsberg to the Rangers rumor, I hope its made sooner rather than later.? While Forsberg may be oft injured, he is still one of the best centers in the game.

Gimme A Break-Rangers@Devils Post Game Thoughts…

Does anyone ACTUALLY believe that the devils played 60 minutes of penalty free hockey?? Puh-lease.? The Rangers didnt play well, but they certainly deserved at least ONE power play.

It wasnt the deciding factor as the Rangers didnt play well in this one for the bulk of the game, compounded with that was some inexcusable coaching by Tom Renney putting together 3 lines that just didnt gel AT ALL.

Sadly im going to have to cut this rant short as I do some work for my company, but the result wasnt surprising at all.

Snooze-Rangers@Devils Second Period Thoughts…

Posted by inferno272 on January 16th, 2007

I gotta take care of something in a few so heres my second period thoughts…Just like the first, Henrik is keeping us in it.? But for the bulk of the period, I felt like that period of time between when you press the snooze button in the morning, and when the alarm rings again.? A state of asleep, and vague awareness of what is going on.? Welcome to Devils Hockey.

Almost Already Over-Rangers@Devils First Period Thoughts…

Posted by inferno272 on January 16th, 2007

Ok, lets just get this out of the way.? Henrik stood on his head that period.? If not for some superb, and i really do mean superb goaltending, this game is already over.? With that said, the Rangers didnt play good, they were…surprise surprise, mediocre.? They had a few chances that they didnt cash in on, and other than that, played a pretty stupid period.? Trying once again to force their way into the zone rather than dump and chase, and not clearing the front of the net.

Lots of work to be done, and im not so sure this is the line configuration to get it done.

Bag Of Vomit-Bruins@Rangers Post Game Comments…

Posted by inferno272 on January 13th, 2007

Ive gotta head out to my store in a minute so this one is going to be REAL short.

Even a bag of vomit looks good next to a turd.? Bruins were awful, Rangers were mediocre.? Thats why we looked so “good”.? This was not a good game by any stretch.

Kudos to Jed Ortmeyer.? Feels great for the kid, and what a friggin move!

Mirror Image-Bruins@Rangers Second Period Thoughts…

The NBC announcers seemed to think the Rangers played a dominating 2nd period.? I had to scratch my head on that one.? Where they watching the same game as me?? To me, we played another mediocre period, but looked a lot better than we were thanks in large part to a bruins team that looks pathetic.? They didnt show up for the 2nd, and you can get your ass their coach is going to rip em a new one.? Look for the B’s to come out strong in the 3rd.? The real question is does Renney realize his team is still playing flat, or does he get tricked by the illusion that fooled the announcers.

Duality-Bruins@Rangers First Period Thoughts…

Posted by inferno272 on January 13th, 2007

To me, it appeared as we saw 2 equally inept and lethargic teams play a stand off of patheticness.? I saw NOTHING from either team that impressed me.? Neither team was effective on their PP, neither team was effective at getting the puck to the net, neither team was effective in passing the puck, or neutral zone play, or anything for that matter.? It was like watching a sad peewee game in some ways.

Im still not seeing the passion that should be displayed coming off of 2 humiliating losses.

By the way, the call on Malik was atrocious.? He got 2 minutes for actually playing defense well.

You can…Senators@Rangers Post Game Thoughts…

Posted by inferno272 on January 11th, 2007

You can whine about the fact that the rangers had exactly 2 minutes of pp time in this game (if my memory serves me right)

you can whine about the missed (BLATANT) delay of game call.

you can whine about a lot in this game, but to me, it all comes down to this.

We….didnt….deserve…to…win.

PERIOD.

I cant stand when the team plays 20 minutes of hockey and actually manages to pick up points.? to me thats almost worse than losing in a blowout.? it reinforces that the team can play half assed and still get points.

I refuse to retract my “this team has quit on Renney” statement, I feel that until i see a dozen or so games of 60 minute hockey (regardless of the results of the game) that this team simply doesnt care.

By the way, anyone notice the revolutionary tactic the Rangers used to get back into this game?? Put the puck on net with bodies in front.? Golly gee if it didnt work like a charm.

Quitters-Senators@Rangers Second Period Thoughts…

Posted by inferno272 on January 11th, 2007

This team has quit on Tom Renney.? I need no further proof than what I witnessed in that second period.? You have to be crazy to fault Kevin Weekes for the 4 goals he gave up, the team just plain and simple quit on him.? I feel really bad for Kevin because its a well known fact that he is well liked.? How do you just not show up for the guy like that?? Its been a pathetic display for 3 straight games for the Rangers, and I for one am almost ready for them to tear it down and to bring Hartford up.
